Hail, Caesar ...

Just had an astonishingly heavy freak hailstorm in this part of Whitehaven. Garden now covered with hailstorms - my daughter had to put a pair of frightened rabbits back in their hutch.

After the driest September on record (though not, I suspect, in West Cumbria), winter appears to be approaching.

Even in West cumbria september has been pretty good, In fact since i moved house on 13th June there has not been much rain at all. I am certainly not complaining about the summer this year.

sure the weather was horrendous through last night and this morning, exactly the same here with the wife's bunny rabbits, though i never put them back in, they seemed to work that out for themselves. though by 10:30 this morning the sun was up and I had laundry on the washing line.

one thing i do find odd though is the difference in weather on any given day. You can have an awefull day at seascale, yet never see a drop of rain all day at Whitehaven.

It's been dry by Cumbrian standards although I have seen quite a bit of rain.

You're right about the fact that relatively close parts of West Cumbria can have quite different weather at the same time.

There we go, a prime example. I have been wanting rain for a while (the builders left the rear garden in a right mess, so long slow process to dig it over and remove the stones) the soil has been rock hard though, so the rain helps me dig it over. like i say, there has not been much rain here since Fri 13th June, the day i moved in.

^ thats courage that. "They" say its bad luck to move home on a Friday. I do it on Fri 13th, "Coz I Can"
