New deal with South East Asian nations

Britain has have agreed a new partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) – the first new partnership for the bloc in 25 years – as we forge closer cooperation between the UK and the region, showing Global Britain in action.

  • As an independent trading nation we have the opportunity to renegotiate Britain's trading relationships with leading economies, with old partners and new. 
     
  • That is why Britain has agreed to become a Dialogue Partner of the ASEAN bloc – the first new partnership for this group of ten member countries in the Indo-Pacific in 25 years – meaning closer cooperation between the UK and the region on a range of issues including trade, investment, climate change, the environment, science and technology, and education. 
     
  • This landmark moment in our tilt towards the Indo Pacific will help create green jobs at home and shows Global Britain in action as we continue to strike out into the world.
