Elon Musk denies plans to give Reform UK $100 million

I think we have all learned the hard way not to jump to quick assumptions in either direction about any media stories about Donald Trump or his ally Elon Musk, or take for granted that we know what they are going to do.

I certainly would not rule out the possibility that Musk might have more to say about UK politics or that he might support those he agrees with in some way.

However, before we get too excited about suggestions that the boss of Tesla, SpaceX and "X" (formerly Twitter) might give £100 million to Reform UK, it is worth noting that ITV just asked him the specific question of whether he planned to make such a donation, and got the one-word answer "no".

Postscript. the Reform party leader said this week (w/c 16th December) that he has met Elon Musk and the possibility of the Tech billionaire making a donation to the party was discussed.

It was however something which it was suggested Musk was open to, but it was not presented as a done deal.

Nigel Farage was asked whether the discussions had got as far as mentioning specific numbers for the size of any donation, and he replied that they had not.

Quote of the day 24th July 2020

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer.
