Trade negotiations

Yesterday, Britain began negotiations with the United States to forge a new Free Trade Agreement which will benefit every region and nation of the UK.
  • The UK is a champion of free trade – we want to strike an ambitious deal that opens up new opportunities for our businesses, helping our economies bounce back from the economic challenge posed by coronavirus.

  • This first round of negotiations taking place over the next two weeks will set out in our negotiation objectives on goods and services trade, digital trade and supporting small businesses. We have been clear that any future agreement with the USA must protect our NHS and continue uphold our high standards on food safety and animal welfare which we already employ in our country.

  • Britain will drive a hard bargain - ensuring the UK gets a great deal and secures an agreement that benefits individuals and businesses across every region, in every nation of the United Kingdom.

At the moment a roll of toilet paper is worth more than a barrel of oil. What an interesting time to start negotiating trade deals. :)

Quite. The price of crude oil has even in places briefly gone negative. Strange times indeed.
