Positive news for Britain's film industry

The Prime Minister has welcomed plans for a £700 million film and TV studios facility to be built in Hertfordshire, creating jobs and opportunities as we build back better from the pandemic.

  • The creative industries are a pillar of our economy, but the COVID pandemic brought serious disruption to them, costing jobs and livelihoods as businesses sought to stay open.

  • That is why it is welcome that a new £700 million centre for film, TV and digital production will be built in Hertfordshire, creating more than 4,500 permanent jobs, boosting the local economy, and showcasing home-grown talent on the global stage.

  • This new studio facility is another vote of confidence in the UK’s film and TV sector, building on Britain’s reputation for world-class creative industries and bringing a meaningful positive impact to the local community.
