Chris Whiteside is the Conservative parliamentary candidate for the Copeland constituency, and was elected in May 2007 as one of the three councillors for Bransty ward in Copeland. He lives in the constituency with his wife and young family. Following Boundary changes the Conservatives need a swing of just over 6% to win the Copeland constituency.

A Tory millionaire claimed more than £50,000 of taxpayers’ money to rent a flat from his own company, it was disclosed last night.
Brian Binley, the MP for Northampton South, broke Commons rules which ban MPs from paying themselves or their businesses rent.
He maintained the dubious arrangement, pocketing £1,500 a month for more than three years even after he was told that the claims were not allowed.
1) It is up to the electorate, but yes. We outpolled Labour in the Copeland constituency on 4th June.
2) There has been disgraceful behaviour by some MPs of all parties.
I don't defend it, whoever does it, and the people responsible should be brought to book.
David Cameron has been far more effective than Gordon Brown in taking action about the problem.
