Quote for the day 6th Feb 2018 - a hundred years after the first women gained the vote

Today is the hundredth anniversary of a Representation of the People act which for the first time in British history gave some women the vote.

To mark that anniversary here is a quote from Millicent Fawcett, a leader of the Suffragists, one of the brave women who campaigned successfully for the enfranchisement of women. Appropriately, it is a quote about courage. Hat tip to The Economist.

I cant think why but for some reason the chartist movement seems to mean a lot to me. Of course so does that of the suffrage's.

The Chartists were seen as extreme and dangerous lunatics in their time, but much of what they argued for we now have - and should be grateful for.
