Government listens to rail users and tells rail companies to withdraw plans to close ticket offices
There was a consultation over the summer, flagged on this blog, on proposals by the train companies to close or severely curtail most railway station ticket offices.
A massive response from railway users was received, and the overwhelming number of respondents were against the plans.
The government has taken account of the views expressed in the consultation, and instructed the rail operators to withdraw these plans and think again.
