Well Done Andy Murray!

What a magnificent performance by Andy Murray to become the first British man to win a singles title at Wimbledon since Fred Perry seventy seven years ago.

I thought Murray played brilliantly against Roger Federer in last year's final when he narrowly lost, and even better against Federer in the Olympics when he took the gold.

Today Andy Murray was better still and the eventual straight sets scoreboard does not do justice to how well his opponent Novak Djokovic also performed.

Murray didn't become the first British man to win Wimbledon for 77 years by accident, he did it by an amazing amount of determination, courage and sheer hard work. Dunblame, Scotland, and Britain can all be proud of him.

Was not happy about the BBC Schedule though. They did not show the Live German Grand Prix as its time overlapped with Wimbledon. Only Highlights were shown later, and then very little of the actual race. Now i do understand that many people wanted to watch wimbledon, however would have been nice if they shown the Grand Prix on one of the other BBC channels the Telly tax payers are forced to pay for.

To add insult to injury, I tuned in to BBC 2 later that day for Top Gear, only to find they kept postponing the start time of that as the blooming wimbledon mixed doubles final (which very few people would care about) was over running its time slot. Could they not have cut to Top gear and went back to tennis highlights later? :)

Sorry to hear that. I was travelling back from a conference in Manchester and didn't see any of the live coverage - I knew it had been a great match from the radio commentary and from the replay extracts I saw when I arrived home.

But what I heard and saw was pretty brilliant.

It will be a fantastic day when we get the first British woman ever to win the Men's singles at Wimbledon won't it :o)

To me its reporting with shock that nursing assistants are doing work rather than "doctors with no training"

Yes, that makes one do a double take, doesn't it.

I think the words "with no training" are in a confusing place and they should have said "Nursing assistants with little or no training are carrying out the work of doctors and nurses."

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer. There's been plenty of nasty stuff on both sides but if you catch anyone of your own viewpoint  posting something like that who might listen to you, please do call them out on it - and point out that they're giving everyone on your side of the argument a bad name.
