Insulate Britain
The Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, has announced that the nationwide injunction he secured to prevent disruptive climate activists from blocking key roads will continue, cracking down on the reckless protesters who are endangering the lives and livelihoods of the hardworking majority.
- The Insulate Britain activists who brought large sections of our major roads to a standstill are breaking the law, undermining their cause and putting motorists at risk.
- That is why the government secured a nationwide injunction – that has now been extended – which will ban activists from obstructing traffic and accessing 4,300 miles of motorways and A roads across the entire country – with those in breach of the injunction facing punishments including imprisonment of up to six months and an unlimited fine.
- Conservatives will continue to take all necessary and reasonable measures to stop self-defeating activists from Insulate Britain wreaking havoc on our roads, disrupt thousands of people’s journeys or put lives in danger.
As a reminder, here is a recent picture of a group of "Insulate Britain" nutcases preventing buildings in Britain from being insulated by blocking a lorry from getting through to actually insulate Britain instead of talking about it.
