National Tree Week - trees to be planted along the West coast of Cumbria from Barrow to Carlisle

This is National Tree Week, and to mark it the government has announced the launch of a third national community forest – helping to regenerate natural spaces as we build back greener.

  • Trees are at the heart of our environmental programme and we must take action now to deliver on the commitments made at COP26.
  • That is why the government has announced the launch of our third national community forest – which will see up to 150 hectares of trees, woodlands and forests created along the west coast of Cumbria from Barrow to Carlisle – with details of funding pots available here
  • This initiative will help to stem the tide of biodiversity loss and better connect 65 miles of coastal communities to nature.
