Cutting crime
The government has announced a £1.1 billion funding package to cut crime and deliver safer streets – supporting the delivery of the Beating Crime Plan and aiming to build back safer.
- With over 11,000 extra police officers already on our streets, crimes including burglary and theft are already down – but we must do more to deliver safer streets and beat crime.
- That is why we are going further and faster to beat crime, delivering an extra £1.1 billion in funding to support our police forces - a 7 per cent cash increase on last year which will bring funding for policing up to £16.9 billion in total in 2022/23.
- Reducing crime is our top priority and we are committed to working with police leaders to ensure this unprecedented investment results in less crime and fewer victims.
