Children's Social Care
The government has announced new mandatory national standards for children’s social care accommodation – rooting out bad practice as we level up outcomes for those most in need.
- Excellent children’s social care has never been more vital – we cannot, and will not, accept poor quality or unsafe accommodation for children in our care.
- So the Conservative government is why we are introducing new mandatory standards to improve the experience of children in social care – providing better supported accommodation for 16 and 17 year olds, introducing new accountability from Ofsted, and delivering the biggest increase in places at new or refurbished children’s homes since 2010.
- These reforms represent a new chapter for children’s social care, which alongside the ongoing independent review, will level-up outcomes for those most in need.
