Sustainable farming

The government has published further details of the Sustainable Farming Incentive scheme - levelling up the food and farming industry as we build back better.

  • The Conservative government is committed to helping farmers to farm sustainably to ensure we deliver on our environmental priorities to tackle biodiversity loss and combat climate change.
  • That is why it has set out further details of our Sustainable Farming Incentive scheme, including payments for farmers for taking environmental and sustainable steps such as improving grasslands or soils - and crucially we are ensuring farmers are free to choose for themselves which elements of the scheme work for them.
  • This will support our farmers to transition to sustainable farming - delivering on our promises made at the COP26 Summit and ensure food security here in the UK.
