Building the next generation of advanced fighter jets

Yesterday the governments of Britain, Italy and Japan announced a new international coalition to develop the next generation of fighter jets, harnessing the strength of our world-beating defence industry to protect us and our allies.

  • The security of the United Kingdom will always be of paramount importance to this Government, and we will continue to invest in our defence to guarantee this security for generations to come.
  • That is why we have announced a new international aerospace coalition, which will see us work with Italy and Japan to use our combined expertise to deliver the next generation of fighter jets, enhanced by new capabilities such as uncrewed aircraft, advanced sensors, cutting-edge weapons, and innovative data systems.
  • This coalition will provide security both at home and in the Indo-Pacific, while creating high-skilled jobs here in the UK.

🇬🇧🤝🇯🇵🤝🇮🇹 The UK, Japan and Italy have agreed to launch the Global Combat Air Programme to develop a future fighter jet. 1️⃣ Entering service from 2035 2️⃣ Combining defence industry expertise 3️⃣ Creating high-skilled jobs in the UK and partner countries
