Investing in cleaner, greener transport
Today the government announced that it is investing more than £70 million, jointly with industry, in the development of clean, green transport technologies, bringing jobs and growth across the country.
- The transport industry must embrace new, clean technologies to ensure their continued for success for decades to come.
- That is why, jointly with the automobile industry, we are investing £73 million in new funding for the development of five clean transport technology projects across the UK, from Burnaston to Bridgwater, working on new ways to harness renewable fuels, powerful and efficient electric motors, and new material that will reduce the auto industry’s carbon footprint.
- These projects are set to bring local growth and support 3,300 jobs across the UK, as well as making our roads clearer, greener, and more affordable.
