Labour-run Birmingham City Council to put up taxes 21%

Taxes are at record levels. There are various good reasons for this, including the costs of dealing with the pandemic and with keeping energy costs down during the energy crisis after Putin's invasion of Ukraine. 

But I am convinced that most people would agree that taxes on ordinary people are far too high, and while we still have a cost of living crisis, putting taxes up further is a really bad idea.

  • Last year, Labour-run Birmingham City Council was forced to declare bankruptcy after years of failure and mismanagement. 
  • Now hardworking Birmingham residents are facing a 21 per cent hike in their bills at a time when they are already facing financial pressures while Labour councillors plot to cut vital local services.

Dogs bark, ducks quack, Labour puts up taxes.

Quote of the day 24th July 2020

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer. There's been plenty of nasty stuff on both sides but if you catch anyone of your own viewpoint  posting something like that who might listen to you, please do call them out on it - and point out that they're giving everyone on your side of the argument a bad name.
