Giles Coren on his religious journey
Being a classic soggy Anglican, but a devout one, I don't usually talk much about my religion because it does not come naturally to try to push that religion down other people's throats.
I post goodwill messages at the time of Christian festivals such as Christmas and Easter but will also often post similar goodwill messages to people of other faiths who are celebrating.
One phrase which was a formative influence on me actually came from the then Primate of the Catholic church in this country, the late Cardinal Bail Hume, who said that
"Since we are all made in the image of God, and we are all different, everyone can tell me something about the nature of God which no-one else can."
So I try to respect the views about religion of people of all faiths and none and do not often post here about religious matters.
I will make an exception but posting something which appear in The Times this weekend.
I was particularly fascinated by this piece by Giles Coren, describing his journey from beginning as a non-practicing Jew who has started to attend Church of England services. Regardless of what you think about Christianity, Judaism, or the Anglican Church, it is an interesting read and a very human story.
