Chris Whiteside is a Conservative activist who lives in Whitehaven in the Copeland constituency and borough with his wife and family. Chris was recently elected chairman of the Conservative party's Cumbria area. He was previously Conservative parliamentary candidate for the Copeland constituency in 2005 and 2010.
Very successful coffee morning in Buttermere this morning: in the afternoon and evening we had two teams out delivering and canvassing, and between us we were active in Hensingham, Braithwaite, Lorton, and Keswick.

My top priorities in Cumbria include: 1) Defending local hospitals 2) Economic regeneration to provide more jobs 3) A balanced energy policy with a new generation of safe, environmentally-friendly nuclear power including a new power station at Sellafield 4) Improving local transport links, to keep jobs in the area - I regret Labour's terrible decision to de-trunk the A595 5) Improving education facilities to attract "knowledge based" industries of the future: CONTACT ME: Residents of Cumbria with a local issue can contact me on chris4copeland@btinternet.com

My good wishes to anyone in Portugal who is interested in Copeland's affairs.
It is not, perhaps, remembered as often today in Britain as it should be that Portugal is our oldest ally, but it is true.
