Expecting the Unexpected
Having been campaigning in St Bees this afternoon and then attending a meeting in Cleator Moor this evening, I was giving a friend a lift to his home in the Bransty ward area of Whitehaven this evening.
As we turned into Rannerdale Drive I had to adjust the car's course carefully to avoid knocking down something one does not often see on the roads in Northern England - a male peacock, complete with brightly coloured six-foot long tail.
Apparently one of the local residents has a pair of them as pets. Just goes to show that you should never imagine that you can guess what may be around the next corner.
