The Penny Drops ...

Even France's President Hollande appears to have, at least to some extent, got the message about the need to reform the EU. He has now said that said the EU must reform and scale back its power.

Speaking on French TV, Mr Hollande - a leading champion of the EU - said the project had become "remote and incomprehensible", and this must change.

"Europe has to be simple, clear, to be effective where it is needed and to withdraw from where it is not necessary," he said.

I dont think the penny has dropped, he has the cart before the horse.

"Europe" [sic] is very effective, its effective beacause its unclear, not simple, and patient. The goal of the European Union is and always was to form a single state the "United States of Europe" the fact its difficult to understand and unclear helps achieve this end.

It has to be covertly, cant be so overt until the last minute (pretty much were we are now) by which time its too late. You see there is always another way, there is a way to give whilst at the same time always taking, this is known as the "Monet method" after you know who.

i can give endless examples, but start with the obvious ones the constitution (monets crowning moment) was rejected in a referendum in france and the netherlands. oh dear. answer - create a new treaty which is an ammending treaty (so does not need a referendum in many places) which actually ammends the treaties to read the same way the constitution read. brilliant. only needs a referendum in 1 country. they vote no. Ok, change a few can nots to can'ts, and some other meaningless things, then say now its been ammended so needs a re vote, spend a fortune (of the peoples own money) on endless propaganda, have a re-vote - keep repeating this until you get the vote then stop there as its permanent.

Oh no the budget has been reduced!!!! - well no, ok, the 7 year budget has, but thats why we have 2 budgets, yes let them vote and reduce the 7 year one (let them eat cake) does not matter, this is why we have our second annual budget which we can raise using QMV, so we just increase each anual budget by more than that which we wanted for the 7 year one, over the next seven years. Thus the erks can think we cut the budget and they won, but really we are milking them for even more.

the polls are doing this - this means we need more "europe"
the polls hace done that now - this means we need more "europe"
this has happened - this means we urgently need more "europe"
this has not happend - more "europe" will start it

the Monet method is great isn't it. it has with it one central recurring thing though, one over riding condition that is this

ANY COMPETENCY GIVEN, CAN NEVER AND WILL NEVER BE RETURNED.

We do however have a trump card to play, that is that EU membership must be voluntary, that is reason for the trump card, it must be entered into voluntrily and must have a way out (article 50).

I'm not suggestin that Hollande has suddenly become a Eurosceptic, but for even him to recognise that the EU needs to reform and, yes, look at returning powers to member states, is a step forward.

What a shame it took a quarter of his electorate voting fascist to make him see it.

The entire point of the union is that powers will never be returned to the nations (oh sorry "member STATES), they wont, they can not be. Its the over riding principle of the European Union.

its slow, but a slow flow, through a none return valve produces this effect.

With the EU it cant be reformed, the two options are in or out.

If you were on the titanic you had 2 ends, you could stay on it, or you could get off it, to introduce a 3rd option of stay on it and fix it from within, well thats just not an option, the ship is designed in such a way you can not do that. We have a lifeboat waiting (its the good ship "article 50 of the TEU" the options are launch said life boat, or dont launch it and stay on board the titanic. Its not so often things are as black and white as they are in this case, but they really are the 2 options we have. (well i guess there is option 4 which is to revoke the ECA, put that as "Jumping overboard and swimming for it" in my analogy
