André Previn RIP
André Previn who has been described as a "Giant of the music world" died yesterday at the age of 89.
Composer, conductor, presenter, his musical achievements included winning 10 Grammys and four Oscars, and an 11-year stint as principal conductor of the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO), though many people of a certain age will remember him for presenting "Music Night" or for an appearance on the Morecombe and Wise Christmas show in which Eric Morecombe mangled his name as Mr "Preview" and told him
""I'm playing all the right notes:
not necessarily in the right order."
André Previn will be missed, but nobody who heard a performance he was associated with will quickly forget him.
