The Great British Railways competion - shortlist announced, voting opens today
Today the government announced the six towns and cities that have been shortlisted to be the new home of Great British Rail.
- After 42 towns and cities applied to be the new home of Great British Rail, the Transport Secretary has today announced the official shortlist.
- Birmingham, Crewe, Derby, Doncaster, Newcastle-upon-Tyne and York will compete for the honour of being crowned the home of Britain’s railways – with the public vote officially opening today.
- The central headquarters will be the heart of the rail network and will provide strategic direction for the running of Great British Rail, as well as bringing a number of highly skilled jobs to the area.
