Paul Turner RIP

I am shocked and horrified to learn that Paul Turner with whom I served on Cumbria County Council for six years until the authority was abolished at the end of March this year, died last night.

I have not yet heard the details but it must have been extremely sudden because another councillor tells me that he was chatting to Paul in Tesco yesterday.

Paul was a former police officer, besides his service to the community in that role and his term on Cumbria County Council he also served at various times on Gosforth Parish Council and the Lake District National Parks authority.

He worked very hard indeed for the community in Gorforth in particular, and in Cumbria more widely, and was a thoroughly decent guy.

Condolences to his widow and family.

Rest in Peace.
