Electric vehicle charging site opens
Today the Chancellor opened the UK’s largest electric vehicle charging site in Birmingham and also opens the first round of electric vehicle infrastructure funding for local authorities, helping to grow the economy.
- Electric vehicle infrastructure supports thousands of jobs in the UK’s automotive sector and will play an increasingly important role in helping us decarbonise transport and reach Net Zero.
- That is why today the Chancellor opened a new electric vehicle charging hub in Birmingham – the biggest site in the UK, capable of charging 180 cars simultaneously. The Chancellor is also expected to open the first round of the Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Capital Fund, backed by £343 million, to support tens of thousands of public charge points across the country.
- This ground-breaking site will be a major transport hub for the future and turbocharge the rollout of electric vehicle charging infrastructure as we deliver on our promise to grow the economy.
