It seems very arrogant of all three candidates claiming to want to represent Seascale for the next four years to not bother doing any campaigning.

I have not received one election address.

I haven't seen them but the conservatives Eastwood and Moore have I understand done a joint leaflet, ignoring that local elections are about people not politics. The candidates certainly don't work for our votes let alone harder. Furthermore once taking office we can be completely ignored.

I presume this relates to the 2011 elections.

I know that David Moore and Eileen Eastwood put out hundreds of copies of an election address three weeks ago (in mid April 2011) which was supposed to have gone to every house in the ward.

That leaflet had sections about both of them, so it was about the people, not just the politics.

I am sorry to learn that you did not see it.

Obviously I don't know what happened in this particular case, and I can only apologise if there was a failure of our delivery system.

However in the many years I have been campaigning, I can't recall a year when at least half a dozen voters have not looked me in the eye with every appearance of sincerity and told me they never saw a leaflet which I myself had put through their letterbox.

Now either all those people are liars, which I don't believe, or it is very easy for a political leaflet to be delivered to a house, yet for some or all of those who live there to be convinced that they have never had any communication from the party concerned: perhaps because another resident puts it straight in the bin without mentioning it.
