Copeland Result
Final result:
Jamie Reed (Labour): 19,699
Chris Whiteside (Conservatives): 15,866
Frank Hollowell (Lib-Dems): 4,365
Clive Jefferson (BNP): 1,471
Ted Caley-Knowles (UKIP): 914
Jill Perry (Greens): 389
Majority - 3833
Compared with last time my vote was up by more than 5,000 and by about 50%. The swing from Labour to Conservative depends on what figure for the notional 2005 result you base the swing from, but the BBC has it at about 2.1% which I presume is based on a notional Labour majority of 5157 in 2005.
Evidently the fact that the seat is more marginal both polarised the results and brought out more voters. The turnout and the absolute numbers of both Conservative and Labour figures were well up.

Comments
Our nearest marginal(Bedford)has gone blue now. Pity Luton is still red, (although we think Kelvin Hopkins is a rare man of principle).
Wish UKIP would give up - they haven't achieved anything and just get in the way. Glad Mr. Farage wasn't more seriously hurt, though.
Like you, I am glad Nigal Farage was not more seriously hurt because I would never wish that on an opponent no matter how strongly I disagreed with him or her.
There will be people who are even more grateful he was not hurt more seriously, because if he had been killed his death would probably have forced the House of Commons to elect a different Speaker.
The death of a Buckingham candidate would have delayed the election in that seat, with the result that the present Speaker of the House of Commons, John Bercow, was not an MP at the time when The House reconvenes.
So they would almost certainly have had to pick an alternative candidate for speaker!
As a former resident of Cumbria [ Penrith ] and party member there, also founder of Cumbria in Bloom, I watch with interest the local results and expect that you did well in Keswick.
Keep the LDs in their place
Best wishes
