Conservative candidates for the European Parliament in the North West Region

Following a ballot of Conservative party members in each region, the names of the candidates who will be standing in each region as Conservative candidates were announced at 2pm this afternoon by the party.

I would like to say 'thank you' to all those who took part in the postal ballot either by voting, as candidates or by helping to organise the selection process.

In my obviously prejudiced opinion there was a very strong field of candidates in the North West, and I believe that party members have chosen a strong team who will put up a good fight in next year's elections.

The candidates adopted in the North West region are:

1. Jacqueline Foster MEP
2. Sajjad Karim MEP
3. Kevin Beaty
4. Deborah Dunleavy
5. Joe Barker
6. Daniel Hamilton
7. Chris Whiteside
8. James Walsh

Don't like the look of that guy in position 7, sounds dodgy if you ask me :)

Thanks, Jim. You've been quiet for a few days - were you affected by the power cut? If so are things fully back to normal now?

was not affected Chris no, just been busy with that (seem to have spent for ever making coffee and sterilizing baby food things, quite odd for a childless man really)
also you would not believe the number of people who do not have a lighter in their home, its to light the gas cooker with with when the electric is off, I must have gone through 25 lighters.
Also been a little off colour as well lately, nothing too serious, anti biotics will fix

Sounds like you were one of the community heroes I was praising in my post on the subject. Don't let the flattery go to your head!

I would not have put it that way. Just helping out where I could, does not take a lot of effort and I would like to think if the shoe was on the other foot, the same people would have helped me.

Top tip to people with gas hob / grill. Always keep a lighter stashed in a kitchen cupboard, then if the electicity is off, at least you can light the hob or grill to cook something or make a cuppa.

I'm sure you're right that they would have helped you had the boot been on the other foot, but well done anyway.
