He writes on Conservative Home about his visit. Here is an extract. I’ve been in Cumbria today to see the areas affected by the floods. I arrived early in Keswick where I met officials from the Environment Agency. Although the river levels had fallen considerably and homes were no longer flooded, the damage to homes had been done. And the water which had got into houses wasn’t just from the river – it was foul water which had risen from the drains. I talked to fire crews who were pumping flood water back into the river, and discovered that they were from Tyne & Wear and Lancashire. If you have evidence of wrongdoing there are proper mechanisms to do something about it by going to the police or using the county council complaints procedure, but making anonymous posts on my blog's comments section is not one of those mechanisms.
If you want to express your disagreement with the way a planning application or proposal was handled and make specific criticisms of the action taken I will allow that to be posted but not what I consider to be personal attacks on individuals.
If you think there is a failure to follow safety standards affecting the plans for Whitehaven campus, or some other problem with it or anything else, by all means say so, but please bear in mind that nobody reading this is a mind reader. If you want anyone to take any notice of your concerns you need to explain what they actually are, preferably without any personal attacks mixed in.
