Support for the motor and technology industries

UK automotive and technology industries have received a major boost today as the government has announced support for advanced trails of automated vehicles, transforming for the better how people travel and boosting this vital sector of the economy.

 

·         The UK market for connected and automated vehicles is estimated to be worth £52 billion by 2035 and today’s announcement of advanced trials signals that the sector is open to investment from the world’s brightest transport technology companies.

 

·         It also demonstrates that we are on track to meet our commitment to have fully self-driving vehicles on UK roads by 2021, as part of the government’s modern Industrial Strategy which will help create better, higher-paying jobs.

 

·         This comes as yesterday London was ranked the third most successful home for tech and start-up companies out of thirty cities from around the world.
