Poetic Justice
I had to laugh at the story of a former forger of paintings, who after serving time in prison realised that he could use his undoubtedly considerable skill (and new-found notoriety) to earn an honest living painting open reproductions or pieces in the style of an "Old Master" or famous artist - signed with his own name and words like "After Picasso," or "After Caravaggio" - rather than as a forger.
Having gone straight Max Brandrett has become a target himself for people trying to pass off their work as his.
"You have got to watch these forgers" he told The Times yesterday, presumably with more than a hint of irony,
Mind you the knowledge that people thought it worth while forging his honest works will probably make them all the more valuable ...
