Supporting Trade and Peace in Northern Ireland

Today the government announced a £650 million package of investment to help traders in Northern Ireland and support peace, prosperity and reconciliation projects on the island of Ireland.

  • Businesses in Northern Ireland are at the heart of preparations for the end of the transition period, and we want to ensure they have as much clarity and time to prepare for the future.

  • That is why the government has published new guidance on the protocol for moving goods in and out of Ireland and are announcing a new free-to-use Trader Support Service to provide vital support and guidance to traders. £300 million will also be invested in reconciliation projects to help to preserve the huge gains from the peace process and the Belfast (Good Friday) Agreement.

  • As we continue to engage with businesses and our discussions with the EU proceed, we will update these resources to ensure that traders are ready for the end of the transition period.
