Pam Dixon RIP
The funeral of Pam Dixon, who was very well known in the Whitehaven Community, took place at St James' church last week after she died at the age of 77. I knew Pam, as many people in the area did, as she was heavily involved in many aspects of local life in the town for decades.
Pam was working at Sellafield when she met her husband, Clifford. They were married at St Nicholas' Church and had three sons Peter, Andrew, and John, and later six grandchildren.
They then went on to run a guest house for 34 years.
Pam was a member of the congregation at St Nicholas' and then St James' church. She was a very active member of the Mother's union and many other community organisations.
Her family told the Whitehaven News that she died at peace in the hospital holding a cross. They described Pam as their 'Queen' and her funeral service as their own 'Operation London Bridge'.
The Whitehaven community has lost a lovely person. Rest in Peace.
