Millom Palladium opening

Attended a reception in Millom this evening to mark the reopening of the foyer & bar area of the Millom Palladium, the condition of which has been enormously improved by the very hard work of a team of Operatic society volunteers.

Having previously attended a number of meetings at which the lack of any progress on the Palladium was the cause of much distress, it was a very pleasant change to see some progress - and if the truth were known, it somehow did not surprise me that it was hard work from local residents that made action happen rather than direction from the "top down."

More recently Millom Amateur Operatic Society presented a performance of Treasure Island as a significantly successful event. I'm sure those that saw the show will hope that it is a sign of the recovery of the Palladium as a theatrical venue for the town. I feel this will be the case provided townsfolk support the Palladium by attending shows and any other event open to the public in the building.

As Millom gets the idea that the Palladium is truly open for business again it will hopefully be booked as a venue for a range of functions.

Agree that The Palladium is much improved and we are happy to announce that this year's Millom Model Railway Exhibition will be held there on September 4th & 5th. Glad to see this back in the hands of those who actually care about this venue and hope that they get the funding they deserve!

Please come along and support both the show and the much improved Millom Palladium.
