Back from hospital

Back safely, my operation to remove a couple of teeth having gone off without any significant problems. I noted however, while I was in Carlisle that the leader of the city council, Cllr Joe Hendry, has died following a heart attack.

I did not personally know Councillor Hendry so I am not going to post a formal obit, but my thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time.

I turned off comment moderation some time ago, and at the moment it is still off.

For some reason the SPAM filters on Blogspot are misinterpreting a number of comments which I would regard as perfectly reasonable as SPAM.

In the past few days two of Jim's posts were put into the SPAM folder by the system, but before I noticed and could release them he had written revised versions which the system accepted.

I can't understand why it accepted the second version of either post but regarded the first versions as SPAM. As our US cousins say, "Go Figure!"

However, I have always made clear that I would delete comments I regarded as offensive, and one anonymous post on this thread was deleted yesterday on that basis.

I was moved to put the passage below forward as a quote today when I saw a horrible post on twitter from someone writing that it was "excellent" that someone who took a different view from her about Brexit had died. I won't write which way round it was so that all the Remain supporters can assume the post was from a Brexit fanatic welcoming the death of a remainer and all the Leavers can assume it was a Remainiac welcoming one less Brexiteer.
