A Glorious First of June
I spent yesterday campaigning in Newark for the by election this Thursday, on a day characterised by glorious and exceptionally hot weather.
I don't know what is going to happen in the by-election. I do know that reception on the doorstep was friendly and constructive, both from people who were planning to vote for Robert Jenrick (the Conservative candidate) and from those who were not.
It was also very evident that the Conservatives are fighting the election flat out and treating it very seriously indeed: this was a very well organised campaign which took nothing and nobody for granted.
It will be interesting to see what happens.
