The Safer Streets Fund

It has been announced that 40 areas across England and Wales will benefit from the latest round of investment from the Safer Streets Fund, making our streets safer and cutting neighbourhood crime.

  • The Conservatives were elected to crack down on crime and make our streets safer, and we will not stand by while criminals inflict fear and misery on our communities.

  • That is why the government is allocating £18.3 million of taxpayers' money to 40 areas across England and Wales through our Safer Street Fund, to deliver proven measures that tackle burglary and theft in crime hotspots, such as increased street lighting, CCTV and locked gates around alleyways.

  • And today the government has also opened up the third round of the Safer Streets Fund, backed by £25 million, which will focus on helping women and girls who are disproportionately affected by crimes like harassment in public places, feel safer in our communities.

  • Alongside our pledge to recruit 20,000 more officers by 2023 under which nearly 9,000 new officers have already been recruited to police forces across the country, this investment will ensure people can feel safe and secure in their communities.
