£800 million to be invested in healthcare R&D
The government has announced today that it will be committing over £800 million of investment into healthcare research and development, boosting growth and improving patient safety.
- The UK is a world leading centre of healthcare research and development – boosting growth while delivering better patient care.
- That is why we have announced over £800 million of investment into healthcare research and development with £790 million allocated to 20 regional NIHR Biomedical Research Centres achieving breakthroughs in new treatments and technology as well as £25 million specifically targeted at research into improved patient safety.
- This will grow the economy, delivering more high-wage, high-skill jobs in regions across the UK and delivering better outcomes for patients.
