Energy security
The Conservative government continues to work to bolster Britain's energy security, building on the secure and diverse energy system we have for the future.
- We can be confident in the plans to protect British households and businesses in the full range of scenarios this winter, in light of Russia's illegal war in Ukraine.
- The UK government has put plans in place to secure supply and National Grid, working alongside energy suppliers and Ofgem, will launch a voluntary service to reward users who reduce demand at peak times.
- Unlike Europe, Britain is not dependent on Russian energy imports and is at a strategic advantage due to factors such as access to our own North Sea gas reserves, steady imports from reliable partners like Norway and the second largest liquefied natural gas port infrastructure in Europe.
