Today the Conservatives announced plans to expand the definition of Small and Medium Sized Enterprises (SMEs) from 250 employees to 500, cutting costs for nearly 40,000 businesses and helping them grow.

  • Outside the EU, we now have the ability to lift expensive regulatory burdens that hold business back.
  • That is why we are expanding the small business threshold from 250 to 500 employees, cutting costs for nearly 40,000 businesses - delivering supply-side reforms which will help businesses and the economy grow.
  • This will cut costs for British businesses, saving them time and resources which are be better spent on growth and investment – delivering high skill, high wage jobs.
