Removing barriers to trade
This week the Conservative government removed trade barriers that previously stopped UK businesses exporting alcohol to several countries, using our freedoms outside the EU to open up access to new markets for Great British products.
- We must support British businesses by slashing red tape and ensuring their goods can be sold to global markets without burdensome bureaucracy.
- That is why the government has successfully negotiated the removal of trade barriers that prevented alcohol sales to multiple countries across South America and Africa, allowing the UK’s world leading products to reach millions of potential new customers, boosting alcohol exports – which reached £6.5 billion last year.
- Conservatives are delivering on our promise to slash red tape for British businesses – growing our economy and delivering new opportunities.
