Help for Turkey and Syria

Following the terrible earthquake which claimed so many lives in Turkey and Syria, both private citizens and community organisations here, and the UK government, have been sending aid.

The UK government is sending a field hospital and critical care air support aircraft to Turkey, helping provide vital emergency treatment to those injured by the catastrophic earthquake. This follows on from measures to send thousands of thermal blankets and teams of disaster recovery experts to help rescue those trapped under the rubble.

  • Our thoughts are with the many victims of this catastrophic earthquake. The UK will do whatever we can to help our allies and all those affected.
  • That is why Britain is sending a field hospital, including an emergency department, a 24/7 operating theatre, and accompanying clinical staff, alongside C130 Hercules critical care air support in the coming days. Our specialist planning team arrived in Ankara last night alongside an RAF transport plane carrying humanitarian aid, including thousands of thermal blankets.
  • The UK government will keep options open for further assistance as we stand ready to assist our allies and friends during this terrible time.
