Rishi speaks to new Kiwi PM
Last night the Prime Minister spoke to the Prime Minister of New Zealand, congratulating him on his new appointment and agreeing that continued international solidarity is vital to combat our shared challenges.
- Working closely with likeminded countries creates new trade opportunities, investment deals and jobs in both the United Kingdom and abroad – and creates a united front in support for Ukraine.
- Prime Minister Rishi Sunak congratulated Prime Minister Hipkins on his election and assured him of the UK’s support in the wake of Cyclone Gabrielle. The pair also reiterated the need to continue international solidarity in support for the Ukrainian people – with the Prime Minister praising New Zealand’s support for Ukraine and training of Ukrainian troops.
- The Prime Minister said he looked forward to the UK joining the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), a free trade bloc with a combined GDP of £9 trillion.
