MoD denies Daily Mail story

The UK Ministry of Defence has formally rebutted a story in the Daily Mail suggesting the the UK armed forces are too small to permit Britain to take over leadership of NATO’s Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTF,) describing the allegation as "completely untrue."

The UK is due as part of a normal rotation of responsibilities to take over leadership of the VJTF from Germany at the end of this year, and will do so.

The MoD added that the "7th Infantry Brigade is being generated to be NATO VJTF next year and we have deployed over 8,000 troops last year alone across NATO. The UK is recognised as a leading force, ready to honour our commitments."
