Recognising the work of teachers
As part of our plans to ensure that every child has the world class education they deserve and in recognition of the hard work of many wonderful teachers, the government has announced that it will raise teachers’ starting salaries to £30,000 to help schools recruit the best talent.
Why this matters:
Boris Johnson and the Conservatives will give every child the world class education they deserve and properly fund our schools – getting this country back on the road to a brighter future.
- Salaries for new teachers will to rise to £30,000 by 2022-23 and the government will fully fund increased contributions to the Teachers’ Pension Scheme – the biggest reform to teacher pay in a generation.
- We are also taking steps to improve behaviour and maintain discipline in schools, providing £10 million to establish national Behaviour Hubs which will enable schools to work together to drive improvement.
- We are boosting schools with an extra £14 billion, levelling up education funding and giving all young people the same opportunities to succeed – regardless of where they grow up or go to school.
