Supporting female innovators

On International Women’s Day yesterday, the government announced a £3 million new fund for female innovators – championing women and young people so we can level up our country and boost our economy.

  • The UK has a proud history of innovative, impactful women - from Ada Lovelace to Rosalind Franklin – and we are committed to supporting women and young people across the country by opening up new opportunities.

  • This fund will provide £2.2 million to the Young Innovators Award – giving over 100 young people financial and professional support to pursue their ground-breaking business ideas. Another £500,000 will provide 10 female inventors with £50,000 each to develop solutions for climate change, energy efficiency and health issues.

  • We pledged to level up opportunity in our country,  and these initiatives will support our female innovators and unleash the potential of the next generation of inventors - propelling our the UK forward into a decade of renewal.
