Britain and Kenya
The Prime Minister has announced that the UK and Kenya will co-host a summit next year, to lead global action to ensure children around the world have the opportunity of education.
- Coronavirus has worsened the global education crisis, with 1.3 billion children – including 650 million girls – out of education at the peak of school closures. Many will never return.
- That’s why the UK will work with Kenya to host the Global Partnership for Education summit next year, raising funds to support work in developing countries helping to get children into school, lift communities out of poverty and prevent girls being forced into child marriage.
- We can be proud that the UK is the top donor to the Global Partnership for Education – taking the lead in ensuring every child is able to benefit from the opportunity of an education.
