Protecting the tenants of social housing
Today the government introduced the Social Housing Regulation Bill to Parliament, giving social housing tenants more protection and improving the quality of housing in England.
- No one should live in damp, cold and unsafe homes, waiting months for repairs and being routinely ignored by social housing landlords.
- That is why the Conservatives are ending this injustice, ensuring the regulator has strong new powers to take on rogue social landlords and introducing ‘Ofsted-style’ inspections and the unlimited fines for failing social landlords – driving up standards for social housing tenants.
- These measures will improve the standard of social housing across the country and give residents a voice, ensuring they have the good homes they deserve.
