A595 Liason Group

The A595 Liason group which brings together Cumbria County Councillors and officers and Highways England meets tomorrow morning.

I am looking forward to using this meeting to hear proposals to improve the A595 and to press for them to take place as soon and effectively as possible.

"If it wasn't fit for purpose people wouldn't use it." - a Cumbria CC officer

You have not said who you are quoting and whether they had anything to do with Highways, what road they were talking about, or what the context was, but those words are not a fair and representative depiction of the professional opinion of any of the Cumbria County Council Highways officers with whom I have discussed the A595.

Their views expressed at meetings I have attended have been that the current capacity of the A595 is significantly short of the demand, that consequently not enough people ARE using it, and that this is a major cause of many of the traffic problems in towns and villages along and near the route of the A595.

Cumbria County Council Highways officers tell you only what you want to hear.

One of the problems with people posting anonymously is that you don't know whether consecutive comments on a thread have come from the same person or not.

But the two anonymous comments on this thread are essentially implying incompatible things.

If you think that Cumbria County Council officers only tell people what they want to hear, as the comment immediately above alleges, what is the point of quoting their advice as the first comment above does?
