Seeking a Brexit deal
Yesterday evening, the Prime Minister spoke with the European Commission President and he will visit Brussels in the coming days. The UK government is working hard for a deal but it must respect the UK’s sovereignty.
- As agreed on Saturday, the Prime Minister and European Commission President von der Leyen took stock of the ongoing negotiations yesterday. They agreed that the conditions for finalising an agreement are not there due to the remaining significant differences on three critical issues: level playing field, governance and fisheries.
- They asked the Chief Negotiators and their teams to prepare an overview of the remaining differences to be discussed in a physical meeting in Brussels in the coming days.
